We invite applications for the international EHRI-seminar “The Study of Holocaust in Romania: Current State and Trends”, organised by the Elie Wiesel National Institute for Studying the Holocaust in Romania and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The seminar is conducted within the framework of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) project and supported by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program.

In this latest EHRI Document Blog post, Michal Frankl and Wolfgang Schellenbacher (EHRI) look at the process of bringing together archival material from Austria, Czech Republic and additional material from other countries about Austrian refugees attempting to flee to Czechoslovakia after the Anschluss in 1938.

On 4 October 2018 the Holocaust Documentation Center, in cooperation with the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences organized a workshop titled Slovak Autonomy 1938 – 1939: The Initial Phase of the Holocaust and Persecution which was supported by the EHRI framework.

Elske Rotteveel works as EHRI project manager at the NIOD Institute for Holocaust, War and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam. She has been working for EHRI since the early summer of 2017. She is mainly active in WP1 Management, but is also in touch with the other work packages.

The EHRI partner Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum has recently co-organised a seminar entitled  #NeverForget: Teaching about Trauma Experiences on the Historical Sites organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Communication of Vilnius University and The International Commission for the Evaluation of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the introduction of fascist antisemitic laws, the CDEC Foundation, in cooperation with the University of Milan, Cittadella degli Archivi, and the Holocaust Memorial Foundation in Milan, presents an exhibition dedicated to the census of the Jews living in Milan in 1938.

The Claims Conference Kagan Fellowship in Advanced Shoah Studies has established a partnership with ELTE University in Budapest, enabling a lecturer to teach at least three Holocaust courses there during the academic year of 2019-2020, under the leadership of Dr. Gabor Sonkoly in the Faculty of Humanities. Compensation will be $25,000.

This position is open to those who speak Hungarian and English.
Preference will be given to Kagan Fellowship alumni, but the position is open to non-alumni as well.
